The Heritage Project is a true example of what custom building with Buffum Homes can look like when a floorplan is treated as a starting point rather than a limitation. Originally inspired by our Gloryfield plan, this home was extensively modified to create a functional multigenerational home tailored specifically to the family’s needs. Buffum Homes helped guide the homeowners through land acquisition and the necessary site due diligence, including buildability investigations, perc testing, a new culvert, and coordination with EGLE and local municipalities. The home evolved to include a fully integrated in-law suite with its own office, kitchen, dining area, and primary suite, along with a sunroom, enlarged laundry and mudroom, zero-step entry, raised basement ceilings, and expanded deck and patio areas. The second floor includes three bedrooms and a full bathroom, while the lower level offers approximately 1,650 square feet of future finishable space with potential for three additional bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wet bar, and large family and recreation areas. Custom finishes including real wood beams, butcher block countertops, elevated trim, a soaking tub, and a beautifully tiled shower add warmth and character throughout the approximately 3,100-square-foot home. The Heritage Project showcases the flexibility, problem-solving, and collaboration that make truly custom building possible, creating a home designed around how this family lives today and for years to come.
